My Role
I create and design content, announcements, posts, manage social media and the web presence for IDSA’s Women in Design NYC chapter, helping shape how we communicate and connect with our community. Alongside that, I help plan and organize events, from casual meetups and networking nights to portfolio reviews with industry professionals and hands-on workshops to support and advance women in design. Being in NYC, we’re lucky to be able to host at least two events a month since we’ve established, and we also regularly spotlight local designers to help their work get noticed.I recently moved to India but continue to contribute remotely and even traveled back to NYC to support a few of the events we organized during NYCxDesign Week 2025 because I love being a part of this design community and helping it grow.

What I’ve learnt from this role
The Power of Community
Being part of this space reminded me how important the design community is — you’re constantly learning from others’ experiences, feeling supported, and inspired by the cool, meaningful work people are doing.
Networking & Relationships
I’ve seen firsthand how networking plays a major role — not just for opportunities, but for encouragement, mentorship, and growing together as designers.
Leading & Planning Events
Organizing everything from portfolio reviews to casual meetups taught me how to plan events with intention, get sponsors, market well, and encourage participation — all while keeping different age groups and needs in mind.
Balance & Prioritization
Balancing this role with my full-time work has strengthened my time management skills and shown me how energizing it is to work with a passionate team. Collaborating toward a shared purpose has been a big motivator of why community work matters
